(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - A delightful transformation is taking place right now in our native chaparral. Take a Trail Guide-led walk through fluffy blooms of Baccharis, emerging fruits of Toyon, Holly-Leaf Cherry and the majestic Oaks. Each walk is an opportunity to discover resident wildlife, study our unique eco zones, and learn local history Our walks are free, veryinteresting, and geared towards all ages and interests. Sturdy shoes, hat, water and sunscreen are recommended.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - If you are looking for something for your children to do this summer, we have two programs specifically for them presented by the Mission Trails Foundation. Nature Adventures with Linda Hawley is for children of all ages from 9:00-10:30 a.m. the week of July 14-18. Each day is a different topic and the cost is $5.00 per child per class. Children may attend one or all five classes.

Foothills 5: Five Artists, Five Media
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - The Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation is pleased to present "Foothills 5: Five Artists, Five Media", a fine-art exhibition of paintings by five award-winning artists from the Foothills Art Association in La Mesa, California. The exhibition will be on display from June 19, 2010 through July 16, 2010. A reception in honor of the artists will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) -  Spring is popping out all over Mission Trails Regional Park.  Mountains and meadows are green and lush, wildflowers blooming, the San Diego River rushing, waterfalls (seldom seen) are flowing. With over 6,000 acres and 40 miles of hiking and biking trails available to enjoy in one of America's largest natural urban parks, now is a great time for San Diegans to visit their Park, located only 15 minutes from the heart of the City.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) -  This month brings heightened awareness of our environment with the 40th celebration of Earth Day.  The Trail Guides at Mission Trails are trained to increase public understanding of our unique ecosystem and historical attributes of the park, so join the next walk to learn more.  Dedicated naturalists, your Trail Guides will provide hands-on interpretation of plants, animals, geology and history discovered along the trail.  This time of year, you will wind through a brilliant display of wildflowers, chaparral and oaks alive with new growth.  Each walk is with a different Trail Guide, so there is much to learn and apply to your role in conservation. Our walks are free and geared towards all ages and interests.  Sturdy shoes, hat, water and sunscreen are recommended. Walks are offered every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, from 9:30-11:00am, starting from the Visitor and Interpretive Center, One Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Carlos.

Make this the perfect time to strengthen your family's connection to nature with a Trail Guide led walk. Our trained naturalists will weave you through shady groves of oaks, coastal sage scrub, chaparral and grasslands emerging from drought. Appreciate the unique ecosystem that surrounds us. Discover how our native flowers and plants attract everything from butterflies to bats. Listen and identify birds. See a Kumeyaay homesite and learn local history and culture. (Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) -  Our Visitor Center is increasingly becoming a "Green Building" through the cooperation of the City of San Diego, a grant from SDG&E, and the expertise of San Diego Lighting Associates which has been serving San Diego for more than 20 years. The result will be a more efficient lighting system throughout the Visitor Center.
