(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - San Diego has consistently been recognized as one of the most pet-friendly communities in the nation. In an effort to thank the community for their concerns regarding animal welfare and for their compassion for the animals in the County's three shelters, the Department of Animal Services will waive adoption fees thru September 4th.
Adoption fees will be waived for dogs that are five years of age or older, or any dog that has been at the shelter for over 30 days. Only two dogs per household can be adopted.
Last month, the County announced adoption fees will be waived for all cats six months and older.
“What better time than the summer to bring a new dog or cat into the family,” said Dawn Danielson, Director of the Department of Animal Services. "We are looking for new pet parents who know that they want to add a new four-legged family member but they just haven't taken the time to visit our shelters.”
All dogs and cats will be neutered or spayed, micro-chipped and vaccinated prior to going home with their new family.
