Navajo Community Planners Election News
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA)  This is the official notice of the Annual Elections to be held by Navajo Community Planners, Inc. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 7pm at the Mission Valley Church of the Nazarene. Due to a change in the Bylaws, the Board has decreased in size from 18 to 16. The community of Grantville has been added and will have four seats on the Board, as will Allied Gardens, Del Cerro and San Carlos. The latter three communities drop from 6 to 4 seats on the NCPI Board.
To qualify to run for a Director's position, you must be 18 years of age and have resided in or own property or a business in the Navajo community you wish to represent for 30 days prior to the election. In addition, you must have attended two (2) NCPI meetings prior to the election and complete a Director's Application to allow the Elections Committee to review your eligibility.

Currently, we have three (3) vacant positions for Allied Gardens, one (1) for Del Cerro, two (2) for Grantville and no vacancies for San Carlos. Representatives who would have run for re-election in 2008 were eliminated due to the decrease in positions available.
The Elections Committee consists of Chairperson John Pilch (San Carlos), Michael McSweeney and Joe Colmie (Del Cerro) and Charles Little (Allied Gardens/Grantville).
To be eligible to cast a vote at the Annual Election meeting, you must be 18 years of age and have resided or owned property in the Navajo for at least thirty (30) days prior to the election on March 17, 2008. Proof of residency and/or ownership of a business will be required to obtain a ballot. You can cast a vote for the candidates for all the Navajo communities, not just where you reside or your business or property is located. A photo ID, such as a driver's license, is the best evidence of your residency. For businesses, your business license or utility bill is needed in addition to your photo ID.
If you have any questions or need an application for a director's position, please contact John Pilch at (619) 462-1408 or by e-mail at jfpilch@hotmail.com.
