Dear Editor,
Shame on California Senator Christine Kehoe and the so-called "Grantville Action Group" for robbing the Grantville region of its best chance to rebuild and revitalize itself over the next decade. The argument that "Grantville is not blighted" can be effectively nullified with a simple drive down Fairmount Avenue.
The City Council, and specifically ex-Councilman Jim Madaffer, has spent the better part of two years trying to bring millions of dollars in new housing, commercial projects, community amenities, and parkland for Grantville, Allied Gardens, and the San Diego River. Now, apparently, it's back to Square One, thanks to the selfish and short-sighted actions of a minority of our local residents.
This is terrible news, brought to you by people who don't see problems where problems exist, and who don't see solutions where solutions exist. Grantville has lost a tremendous opportunity for a community Renaissance in the 21st century.
