(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) Are you tired of hosing off boogie boards . . . washing load after load of swimming towels . . . vacuuming sand out of the car . . . coming up with clever ways to keep the kids entertained . . . forking out cash for all of the spontaneous little adventures . . . picking up the little trail of messes as the children move from one distraction to the next? Never fear . . . School is here! The Dailard staff want to thank you for investing in your children over the summer and allowing us the much needed time to re-energize our passion for teaching your children. We are ready and excited to welcome our students back to Dailard as we "Strive For Excellence . . . Focused On The Future."
We are finding tremendous success at Dailard as our students, staffs, parents and community members engage in our school with a commitment to continually improving what we do. Please visit www.dailard.org <http://www.dailard.org> to view our 2007 Dailard Survey Results. We are living what the research has been saying, "effective family and community involvement helps ease transitions into new schools and grade levels, creates a safer school environment, increases homework completion, and raises readiness for post-secondary opportunities."
Here are some examples of what staff, parents and community are able to accomplish when we come together for our students: Together we have seen the value of a school librarian and computer lab teacher and have raised funds to keep these valuable resources at our school. Together we listened to the needs of our students and replaced the outdated computer lab with 21 new computers. Together we created a safe play environment for our Kindergarten students with funds for new grass. Together we have raised funds for programs, assemblies, and after-school enrichment for our school. Together we learn about improving student learning in a Standards Based Reporting System.
