Dailard Elementary School News
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA)  What a busy month our Dailard community had!   Some of last months highlights included our annual Western BBQ with over 120 parents sharing this event. Many students, parents and staff showed their school spirit by dressing up in their favorite Western Wear while enjoying a BBQ lunch with their children.

Dailard brought the crazy world of science to school with another Family Science Night. Parents along with their children came to understand the science behind chemical reactions and every day wonders while checking out some truly amazing gizmos, gadgets and goop.   Students also went home with a Make-and-Take project! This was another great night of family fun.   We also held Dailard's Annual Family Picture Night - we had great photos taken of our families' right here on campus.

For Red Ribbon Week our theme this year was "Plant the Promise for a Healthy Me". Students planted bulbs for the promise of making healthy choices. Our annual Halloween Parade was held following a campus-wide sing-along with parents and staff sharing in the spirit of Halloween by wearing their costumes and taking lots of pictures. Some Boxtops Success:   Our students' efforts in their Boxtops collection have raised $226.40 towards PE and playground equipment! Great job everyone!

Dailard held their very successful Fall Festival in the beginning of November with plenty of great food, a vendor booth, dance and a spectacular fun zone where the kids had a blast and neighbor, Brent Haywood shared this event with us by taking fabulous photos all afternoon.   Visit www.BrentHaywoodPhotography.com  to check out these great shots.   The photos can be purchased on line and sent directly to your home. Thanks Brent for taking these great photos at our event. Also, a big thank you to all the community volunteers who helped this event become such a great success as a fund raiser and an altogether great time!

On November 3rd, our Dailard D.A.D.S. (Dads Assisting Dailard Students) held their first-ever outdoor adventure. The participation was outstanding with 150 Dailard Students & 105 Dailard Dads spending the weekend together in an Outdoor Adventure! This was a free hiking and overnight camping event, where Dads bring their Daughters and Sons for an adventurous hike up Cowles Mountain, followed by a HUGE BBQ and then the pitching of tents for an overnight stay on the Dailard playing field. Movies, Songs and Games were planned to bring our Dads and our student's favorite guys together to build lasting memories. What an amazing adventure! Many memories were indeed made, and we've started a great tradition. A lot of schools talk about 'spirit', but Dailard really has it. This event was a free hiking and overnight camping event, where dads brought their daughters and sons for an adventurous hike halfway up Cowles Mountain, a HUGE BBQ and pitching tents for an overnight stay on the Dailard playing field. Movies and many fun events were had bringing our dads and our student's favorite guys together to build lasting memories.   Visit www.dailarddads.org for more information.

Another new event at Dailard was a nationally recognized speaker on child behavior. Dr. Mary Shae came to Dailard to speak to our parents on the importance of positive parenting. This was the first in our series of lectures supporting positive behavior with children. Supervision was provided for our children with a movie night in the teachers lounge.
Coming next month will be our annual Holiday Bazaar where students get to shop right at school for their family and friends. The enthusiasm at Dailard grows more each day which ultimately benefits our students' happiness and success at school! Go Dailard Dolphins!
