Gage Elementary School

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) -  The first and second grade students at Gage Elementary have been very enthusiastic about the beginning of school. When asked to pick one thing they know now that they did not know in September, students in the classrooms of Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Moore B-1, Mrs. Ferris B-4, Mrs. Roseman 17, and Mrs. Youngman 16, responded with the following:

"I know how to spell hard words like blocks. I spell five times a day and every week." Karina

"I learned equal signs from math. Math is fun. I know math now." Lauren

"I learned how to spell hard words like Stegosaurus. I am a good speller now. I love to spell". Danielle

"Fifth Grade 'reading buddies' are fun. I learned how to read." Antonio

"I learned that air is hot and cold. I learned air is everywhere. We made rocket balloons that told us that air can go fast." Melissa

"What I learned in school so far…I learned about air and water. We did balloon rockets and from that we learned how the air pushes the balloon. I really like doing science." Katya

"I didn't know about weathering but now I do. Weathering is when rocks are hitting other rocks so they break into smaller rocks because the wind is blowing the rocks." Pierce

"I learned that rocks are colorful. The minerals make the rocks colorful. Some rocks are soft, small, and round too." Brian

"I just learned something important. Some drugs are good for you. Tylenol is a drug. People think bad drugs make them feel better but it doesn't, it just makes them feel worse! Their brains start to not work right, then they do bad stuff and maybe you can die. So stick with the good ones." Abbie

"After two years of getting in trouble I learned how to be quiet. My teacher made a contract with me. If I yell out I owe her a ticket. If I don't yell out I get five tickets. Now I know how to control myself so I don't get in trouble any more." Jordyn

Upcoming Events at Gage in December: Dec. 10- Family Math Night from 6:00-7:30pm; everyone welcome; Winter Break from Dec. 22 - Jan 2; no school.
