Did you know that Hearst Elementary School is turning 50? It is true. A lot has changed since the year 1959 and in celebration of this big event, the Hearst Elementary School PTA has planned many activities to celebrate throughout the year. If you were ever a Hearst Hound and would like to be a part of the celebration, please email your information to: hearst50@cox.net. Committees have been formed to organize the events, but community participation is needed! If you or anyone you know is a past student we invite you to be a part of history. Come join us!
Hearst Elementary School's Foundation is looking for financial support and in-kind donations to help make the school's best fundraising night of the year even better, the annual dinner party and auction is planned for March 13, 2010. The Foundation is looking for help in several areas including: contribution of fantastic items for the silent and live auction, donations, and sponsorship or event underwriting possibilities.
Whether your business is local or national, big or small, all are encouraged to take part in a great event for the kids at Hearst. All of the money raised stays at the school to help fund technology, art and music programs. And whether you donate or not, everyone is welcome to purchase a ticket and take part in a memorable night. For more information, please contact Tracy Canepa at (619) 857-3377.

Late October brings Halloween and many other special events and meetings at Hearst. On October 28, the Hearst community will hold its annual Safety Day and helicopter landing. This is always an exciting experience for the students as they watch a police helicopter land on the black top and participate in a talk about safety. On October 30, students will participate in a Halloween Costume Parade. And, parents, mark your calendars for the next PTA meeting November 2 at 6:30pm in the auditorium.
