Hearst Elementary School - January 2009 News
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The Auction is Coming! Save the date because it's the night you've been waiting for. The date of the annual Hearst Foundation Auction is March 28, 2009. The event takes place from 6:00 to 10:00pm at St. Therese Social Center. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door. It's the one night where we celebrate the families and friends that make Hearst a great place and raise money for our school. From the grass fields to the classroom document cameras and renowned computer lab, the auction money raised plays a part in each student's daily life.

There are a variety of ways you can help make the auction a success. Sponsorship, Advertising space and Underwriting Opportunities are available. If you know someone who may be interested in becoming a part of the Hearst Auction tradition through sponsorship, underwriting or even just attending, let us know. We are looking for donated items for our auction. Do you, or someone you know, have a connection at a restaurant, a hair salon, a day spa, a jewelry store, a clothing store, a dry cleaners, a gift boutique, a children's store, or even a theme park? How about a night at a hotel? How about an exciting getaway? Do you own a second home, a time share, or a rental property? Do you have any sporting tickets or theater tickets? Contact Rosemarie Marshall: Rosemarie1467@hotmail.com or Tracy Canepa tracycanepa@cox.net for more information and to make a donation.

Hearst's Winter Concert was a huge success, we had standing room only in the Lewis Middle School auditorium and the kids sounded wonderful! All the parent support made this the best one yet. Our 4th and 5th grade chorus taped three songs that aired on KUSI channel 9 Annual Song of the Holidays December 24th and 25th. You can hear and see them online, as well as order a CD of the performances (20 schools in all), at www.kusi.com.

Hearst parents and Del Cerro neighbors, please respect the cross walks near Hearst Elementary during the school year. Many parents and students have nearly been hit by cars while walking in the crosswalks around the school. Speeding and/or not stopping at crosswalks when pedestrians are crossing is creating a hazard for all. Please think of your fellow students and neighbors.
