Our school year got off to a great start. The PTF and parent volunteers hosted a "Welcome Back" luncheon for the teachers. We were excited to see returning staff members and to meet new ones as well.

The second week of school our campus was quiet. The 4th grade classes visited Old Town and the 5th grade toured Balboa Park and the Zoo for the OCILE program. The OCILE offered integrated learning opportunities for our fourth and fifth grade students. OCILE also provided students with positive, integrated experiences in unique environments, which enhanced the students' awareness, acceptance, and appreciation of cultural diversity. Our students came back to school with a new appreciation and view of San Diego.

Our Open House was held on Thursday, September 18th from 6:00 - 7:30. The teachers and students worked hard to prepare for the evening, and it showed. All the classrooms looked wonderful. Thank you to all the parents who took time to visit their child's teacher and classroom. Parent participation is a key to your child being successful in school so it's great to see so many parents involved.

We will be having our first Dine Out fundraiser at Chuck E. Cheese at 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, on October 9th from 3:00 - 9:00pm. A percentage of sales is donated back to our school PTF. You can expect a hand out with more information to be sent home the week of the event. Don't forget to take the flier with you that evening to ensure that the school receives credit. We hope to see you there.

Our fall carnival theme will be The Nightmare Before Christmas and is planned for Saturday, November 8th from 2:00 - 6:00pm. We will have food and lots of games and prizes. Children can dress up however they want, for example: Halloween costumes, Turkey costumes, or Santa hats. It will be a fun filled afternoon you don't want to miss!
