Momentum Middle School has a busy January as the first semester comes to a close. Sixth and seventh grade students are preparing for Project Day on January 26th, in which they work individually or as a group to create a project to present to their peers, and later that night, to their parents. There will be another Project Day during the second semester.
MMS is also hosting an exciting event for fifth graders (from any school!) called "Math Matters." Held on January 27th at 10 am. in the auditorium, this unique opportunity gives 5th graders the chance to challenge themselves by answering tough math questions. The top three winners get amazing prizes: a laptop computer (1st prize), a pocket PC (2nd prize), and an MP3 player (3rd prize). There will be treats and parents are also encouraged to attend. All participants receive a certificate and all fifth graders are welcome!
MMS continues to recognize students who contribute positively to the school environment, and each week one Citizen of the Week and Scholar of the Week is named. The most recent recipients of Citizen of the Week are: Luke Kimball, Eva Miramontes, Eddie Estrada, and Jacquez Caples. The most recent recipients of Scholar of the Week are: Hannah Brown, Jarad Brunner-Encinas, Louie Thiros, and Allison Devenport. The next Principals' Lunch is scheduled for February 6th and there is a special Awards Assembly on February 5th to choose the recipients and recognize the First Semester Perfect Attendance recipients, Honor Roll, and Dean's List. Other awards will be given as well.
Interest in MMS has grown exponentially! The front office is flooded with calls for enrollment for both this year and next. There are still spots available for 6th and 7th graders this year and next. The application deadline for incoming 6th graders (for next year) is February 2nd; applications received after that date are subject to a waiting list.
