(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - Momentum Middle School has had a busy fall semester! The annual Halloween dance was held Wednesday, October 29th. The Comet Crew, parents and staff worked hard to make it a fun and safe event (loved those fangs, Mr. A.!)
On Halloween night, those scary screams and moans coming from the school were from … the Math Team! The Math Team had a school sleepover October 31st with dinner at the Souplantation and a movie, followed by math teachings and practice competitions all day Saturday. Two weeks later, the Math Team traveled to Palmdale, California, for a regional math camp, joining schools from Los Angeles and Arizona.
Also, in November, MMS served as a voting site on Election Day. We were glad to serve the community in this way, believing that interaction between our school and our community encourages mutual understanding and respect, and is helpful to both our students and our neighbors.
Finally, Momentum is pleased to announce our plan to put in a baseball field on our upper level play area. This school improvement would mean teams could have home games, and would benefit the P.E. program, which currently has just a large dirt field. The funds have been generously raised by MMS's parents and families for this project, as well as volunteers to do the work. At this time we are just awaiting final District approval.
